宗教家が政策に関与するとき
参加者の皆さま、この特別なフォーラムにようこそお越しくださいました。今年のフォーラムでは、宗教指導者たちが、世界政策の方向性が定められる場において、明確な見解を表明することが必要であるという信念に基づき、大胆で野心的なテーマを追究いたします。
今月末、G20のリーダーたちが日本で一堂に会します。彼らはそこで、激しい紛争や、かつてない大規模な難民流入、国家間及び各国内の格差問題により、増大の一途をたどる人々の不満と鬱屈。そして、気候変動による回復不能点に、高速で近づきつつあることに対する、第一級の科学者たちからの警鐘など。これら多岐にわたる課題を網羅した、充実したテーマに向き合うことになります。変革と人間の進化に関し、比類なき経験を重ねてきた主催国の日本は、その豊かな宗教的かつ霊的伝統、そして、人々と自然とが調和して共生していく、社会的価値観の尊重をもたらしてくれています。
G20インターフェース・フォーラムは、これら世界的テーマについて検討する、特別な機会と叡智とアイデアを提供するものです。今年、6回目を迎えるこのフォーラムは、宗教的、信仰的、霊的伝統を承継する組織と人々を、世界の諸問題に対する視点をもって結びつけている。そして、驚くべき充実した様々な各ネットワークを、相互に連携させるものでもあります。もちろん、それには、国連持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）も含まれています。これは、世界の諸問題に対して行動を起こすことを表明し、分野横断的なパートナーシップへの要請と、各目標への達成期限を定めた野心的な試みです。
しかし、G20インターフェース・フォーラムに集う宗教指導家たちは、そうした個々の目標を超え、私たちが未来に向けて取るべき喫緊の行動のために、道徳的な基盤をもたらす存在でもあるのです。
これらが、G20における世界的な対話の一部となるべき声であり、理念であるかと存じます。

Religious actors belong at the policy tables
We welcome you to this special Forum. It represents a bold and ambitious agenda that was built on the conviction that religious voices need a clear place at global policy tables.
When the G20 leaders meet later this month in Japan, they face a formidable agenda of issues, that range from hot conflicts, unparalleled refugee flows, growing unease at inequalities among and within nations, and calls from leading scientists that a point of no return on climate change is fast approaching. As host Japan brings remarkable experience of transformation and human development. It also brings rich religious and spiritual traditions and a commitment to social values of harmony, among people and with nature.
The G20 Interfaith Forum offers a special opportunity to take stock on this global agenda and to offer wisdom and ideas. The Forum, now in its sixth year, draws on the remarkable array of networks that link religious, faith, and spiritual traditions with an eye to global agendas. That includes, of course, the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that represent a global action agenda, including deadlines and calls to cross sectoral partnerships.
But the counsel of the religious actors gathered at the G20 Interfaith Forum goes well beyond specific targets. It brings the moral foundations for action to the fore and it comes with a sense of great urgency.
These are voices and ideas that need to be part of the global dialogue.
